What is “Top up to Weixin Wallet” via OCBC app?
This feature allows eligible OCBC customers to send money directly to their own Weixin Wallet in China, so they can use Weixin Pay for everyday payments such as QR payments, Mini Program purchases, online shopping, transfers, and Red Packets.
The recipient receives funds in Chinese Yuan (RMB) into their Weixin Wallet Balance.
-
Who is this feature for?
This feature is designed for Chinese and non-Chinese citizens who use Weixin Pay in China, including business travellers, international students, foreign residents in Mainland China, and naturalized citizens of Chinese origin who want to send money into their Weixin Wallet.
It is especially useful if you want to “pay like a local” in China — for example, paying street vendors, restaurants, taxis, local service providers, Mini Programs, or sending transfers and Red Packets to friends and family.

Do I need to set up anything in Weixin before receiving funds?
Yes. If this is your first time receiving money via this service, you must set up your recipient details in the official Tenpay Global Mini Program “跨境汇款 微汇款小程序” before you can receive the funds successfully.
To do this:
- Open Weixin.
- Search for Tenpay Global Mini Program “跨境汇款 微汇款小程序”.
- Optional: Tap “…” in the top right corner and select “Translate” if you need English translation.
- Tap “我要收款” / “Receive”.
- Agree to the terms and conditions.
- Enter your WeChat Pay password and complete identity verification.
- Choose whether you want to receive funds into Wallet Balance.
- Once setup is completed, future transfers should arrive faster.
-
Can I receive funds using a non-China mobile number?
Yes. Non-China mobile numbers are supported, as long as the mobile number can be bound to your Weixin account.
-
What name should I use when sending money to my Weixin Wallet?
You should use the same name that matches your Weixin Pay real-name verification records and identity document.
You can obtain this by searching “跨境汇款 微汇款小程序” / Tenpay Global Mini Program > “我要收款” / “Receive” > “收款名片” / “Business Cards for Receiving Money” > “分享名片” / “Share business card”. Input the name shown when adding payee on OCBC app.
If there is a mismatch between the details entered in OCBC app and your Weixin identity verification details, the transfer may be delayed, rejected, or refunded.
-
How long does the transfer take?
Under normal circumstances, once the partner bank verifies that the payee information is accurate and valid, the remittance will be credited to the receiving account within 30 minutes.
You must complete your recipient setup in the official Tenpay Global Mini Program “跨境汇款 微汇款小程序” before the incoming transfer can be received successfully.
-
What currency will my Weixin Wallet receive?
Your Weixin Wallet will receive the corresponding amount in RMB.
