You will need an existing OCBC SGD current or savings account to open an OCBC MyOwn Account on your child’s behalf. Do not have one? You will first be asked to open an OCBC 360 Account in the application. The fall below fee will be waived for the first year and initial deposit is waived for accounts opened via OCBC app.

What services can a parent of a child with an OCBC MyOwn Account access via the OCBC app?

Parents will be able to do the following:

  • Update the child’s contact details
  • Change the child's app access code
  • Set up digital access for the child
  • Link/delink the child’s mobile number to/from PayNow
  • View the child’s account details and transactions on a dashboard
  • Set up recurring allowances
  • Manage transaction limits for the child’s account and debit card
  • View the child’s account statements
  • Receive notifications on the child’s account activities
What daily transaction limits can a parent set for the child?

What happens when the child turns 16 – what happens to the accounts/limits/debit card?

When the child turns 16, parents will be notified and given the option to grant full control of the OCBC MyOwn Account to their child via their OCBC app. Parents have the flexibility to decide when they want to do so.

If the parent chooses to release control of the account:

  • They will have 24 hours cooling off period to rescind the request via the OCBC app
  • Once 24 hours have passed, parents will not be able to reverse this release of control process
  • Their child will then be notified that control has been passed to them, and they can log in to complete the process

After the process is completed, and the child takes over the account:

  • Parents can no longer view or get notified of transactions made on the child’s account, or set transaction limits
  • The child can change transaction limits for the account on their own, but the maximum limits on the account remain the same
  • The child can make changes on the details of the account (e.g. contact details)
  • Do note for calls into our contact centre, we can only accept instructions from the child only.

This option will be available to parents until the child turns 18. When the child turns 18, the account will be automatically converted to a FRANK Account, and parental controls will be automatically released for the child.

What can parents/children if they suspect that the account has been compromised?

Parents can choose to activate the OCBC Kill Switch via the OCBC app on the child’s behalf. To authorise this request, we will send an SMS OTP to the child’s number in our records.

Once activated, the OCBC Kill Switch will immediately suspend the child’s current and savings accounts (including joint accounts), OCBC app access and debit cards.

Children can also activate OCBC Kill Switch on their own via the OCBC app.

As a preemptive measure to protect the child’s funds, consider locking them using OCBC Money Lock. Locked funds cannot be transferred out.

What should I do if I lost my OCBC MyOwn Debit Card and/or require a card replacement?

Child can access the OCBC app > click on OCBC MyOwn Account > Lock card to temporary suspend further transactions on the card. If card is found, the child can repeat the steps to Unlock card and continue to make transactions.

Parent may contact us at 1800 363 3333 or visit any OCBC branch to request for a card replacement. You will receive it via mail within 5 working days.

If you're replacing your child's OCBC MyOwn Debit Card, the new card will feature the same design selected during account opening. Changing of card design is currently unavailable.

  2. Payment must be made with an OCBC MyOwn Debit Card at participating outlets.
  3. To earn POPPoints, Cardmembers must:
    1. be accompanied by a parent or guardian who has signed up as a U-POPP member (“Member”),
    2. spend a minimum of S$10 in a single receipt, and
    3. submit the receipts at the respective Customer Service Counters located at KINEX, United Square and Velocity@Novena Square (“Participating Malls”).
  4. Please refer to the websites of the respective Participating Malls for a list of participating outlets where receipts can be submitted to accumulate POPPoints.
  5. For compliance to PDPA, consent must be given for the release of selected personal information for all redemptions. All receipts will be scanned for internal audit purposes.
  6. U-POPP Members must be present in person with a Cardmember, provide a valid mobile number for redemption, and present the physical MyOwn Debit Card and/or transaction details via OCBC app at the Customer Service Counter of the respective malls on the same day of purchase.
  7. Each U-POPP Member may submit up to 10 receipts per day, or accumulate a maximum of 1,000 bonus POPPoints per day — whichever comes first.
  8. Receipts obtained after 9pm can be redeemed on the following day only.
