Secure and manage your OCBC Cards
Enjoy peace of mind with these added security measures on all of your OCBC Cards.
Credit Card and Debit Card activation
Your new or replacement card cannot be used by you or anyone else until you activate it. This helps to reduce the chances of unauthorised card usage.

Deactivation of magnetic stripe
To safeguard you against fraudulent transactions, the magnetic stripe on all OCBC credit and debit cards is disabled for overseas use by default.
You can still use your card(s) to make transactions via your chip on card (EMV) for overseas point‑of‑sale purchases, ATM withdrawals, contactless payments, mobile wallets, and online transactions even if the magnetic stripe is not activated. For your security, please note that the EMV chip cannot be disabled.
Please refer to the Overseas Usage Guide to learn how you can activate or deactivate the magnetic stripe of your card for overseas use.
Double Swiping
All retail merchants in Singapore are required by the Association of Banks in Singapore (ABS) and the Card Schemes (i.e. American Express, Diners Club, JCB, MasterCard, UnionPay and Visa) to stop capturing and storing sensitive payment card data (or cardholder data) encoded on the magnetic stripes of your credit, debit and charge cards that can happen by swiping your card more than once.
Email ABS at banks@abs.org.sg to report suspected merchants.
Visit www.abs.org.sg for more details.
EMV Chip
Your card details are protected by EMV (Europay, Mastercard, and Visa) chip encryption, which provides enhanced security. Once your card is activated, the EMV chip (where applicable) on your cards remains active for both local and overseas transactions, including those processed at point‑of‑sale terminals, ATMs, contactless payment points, digital wallets, and online platforms. For your security, please note that the EMV chip cannot be disabled.
