Policy Owners' Protection Scheme

This policy is protected under the Policy Owners’ Protection Scheme which is administered by the Singapore Deposit Insurance Corporation (SDIC). Coverage for your policy is automatic and no further action is required from you. Terms & Conditions

1. This Promotion is open to policyholders who apply for GREAT CareShield (“Qualifying Base Plan”) from The Great Eastern Life Assurance Company Limited (“GELS”) between 5 October 2021 and 31 December 2024 (both dates inclusive) and where the relevant plan is in force by the 28 February 2025.
2. A 20% discount is applicable on the total premium payable for the entire duration of the premium payment term (“Promotional Discount”) of the Qualifying Base Plan(s). The discounted premium amount will be reflected on the portion payable in MediSave funds and/or cash.
3. The Promotional Discount is applicable to premium loading(s) imposed due to health reasons (if any).
4. If the policyholder cancels, surrenders or deals with the Qualifying Base Plan in any way which reduces the total premium payable at purchase within twelve (12) months from the date of issue of the Qualifying Base Plan, the policyholder shall return the value of the Promotional Discount to GELS. GELS may deduct the value of the Promotional Discount from any sums due or owing to the policyholder from GELS, in its sole discretion.
5. This Promotion is not valid with any other offers or promotions (including where premium vouchers are utilised for payment of premiums) held by GELS.
6. GELS reserves the right to vary these terms and conditions or withdraw this Promotion at any time without prior notice. The decision of GELS on all matters relating to this Promotion shall be final and binding on all customers.
7. By participating in this Promotion, you agree and consent to GELS and its related corporations (collectively, the "Companies"), as well as their respective representatives, agents, the Companies' authorised service providers and relevant third parties (the Companies and all the other foregoing parties, collectively, “Great Eastern Persons”), collecting, using, disclosing, and/or sharing amongst themselves your personal data, for purposes reasonably required by the Companies to evaluate your proposal and to provide the products or services which you are applying for (including any policy renewals and policy upgrades, substitutions or replacements) and such other purposes as described in Great Eastern's Privacy Statement (collectively, the “Purposes”) which is accessible from Great Eastern Singapore’s website at https://www.greateasternlife.com, which you confirm you have read and understood. Further, you agree that your consent herein supplements but does not supersede or replace any other consents that you may have previously provided to Great Eastern Persons, and your consent herein is cumulative and additional to any rights which any of the Great Eastern Persons may have to collect, use and/or disclose of any of your personal data, with or without your consent, to the extent permitted under applicable law.
8. The terms and conditions of this Promotion shall be governed by and interpreted in accordance with Singapore law. The courts of Singapore shall have exclusive jurisdiction over any disputes arising from the terms and conditions, including the validity and enforceability thereof.

Upon full recovery, the lump sum payout benefit will provide the same coverage for subsequent disabilities due to different causes.

Monthly payout amount

Mike can use this payout to cover his long-term care needs.

Minimise cash top-up amount

This is the highest monthly payout Mike can receive if he chooses to pay for his premiums using MediSave only (up to 600 SGD), without any cash outlay.

Top-up cash for higher coverage

Mike chooses a monthly payout of 2,300 SGD to cover the approximate monthly cost of a nursing home service. He can use MediSave to pay for the first 600 SGD of his premiums and use cash to pay the remaining.

The one-time payout can be claimed again

There are no limits to the number of times you can claim the one-time payout (it is “reclaimable”).

However, subsequent disabilities cannot have the same causes as or be related to prior disabilities. If this condition is not fulfilled, you may not claim your one-time payout again.

Here is how it works:

Pre-existing condition refers to:

(a) Any illness, disease, disability, defect or impairments (“Condition”) from which the Life Assured was suffering prior to the Cut-Off Date; or

(b) Any Condition of which signs or symptoms had existed in the 12 months immediately preceding the Cut-Off Date, for which:
i. the Life Assured has sought or received medical advice or treatment, prescription of drugs, counselling, investigation or diagnostic tests, surgery, hospitalisation; or
ii. an ordinarily prudent person would have sought medical advice or treatment, prescription of drugs, counselling, investigation or diagnostic tests, surgery, hospitalisation,

unless such Condition was declared to the Company and no exclusion of the same was imposed by the Company, regardless of whether any claim had previously been made in respect of such Condition.

In this definition, “Cut-Off Date” refers to (1) the Commencement Date, (2) date of reinstatement of the Policy or, (3) date of change of benefits under this Policy, whichever is applicable.
