#OCBCCares

Our #OCBCCares Programme focuses on doing our part to protect the environment and on helping the more vulnerable in society.

Other than food, the most valuable gift we can offer the hungry is the dignity of choice.

    About community shop

We partnered Food from the Heart to set up the Community Shop @ Mountbatten. While each eligible household can collect 12 items a month, most collect less than that – minimising waste. More than $60,000 worth of food has been collected since the Mountbatten shop opened in February 2020.

Food items available at the Community Shop include staples, canned food, bread spreads, oil and condiments – all of which enable beneficiaries to eat better. Here is a list of their top 5 favourite items:

    1. Beverages, especially chocolate drinks
    2. Canned meat
    3. Cooking oil
    4. Rice
    5. Biscuits
    Madam Lee learns to cook

Madam Lee is one of 500 families who are registered to obtain food from the Community Shop@Mountbatten.

Our other initiatives include providing hot meals for seniors who do not cook and funding kidney-friendly food packs for renal patients undergoing dialysis. Our staff volunteers also use data analytics to study food consumption habits, optimising the availability of high-demand and healthier food types at the Community Shop.

    How you can help

Check that the food you want to donate has a shelf life of at least 6 months. Find out what is needed on the Community Shop’s Food Donation Wish List.
