Singapore, 28 October 2026 – OCBC has become the first bank in Singapore to enable customers to earn rewards and redeem vouchers when making overseas QR payments with Alipay+ Travel Treat on the OCBC app. The launch of the in-app travel hub builds on OCBC's partnership with Alipay+, Ant International’s unified wallet gateway, for cross-border payments since 2023. The latest enhancement broadens the partnership beyond payments to encompass travel perks.
Customers can now discover, claim and redeem overseas dining, shopping and travel offers directly through the OCBC app. This means they no longer need to download a third-party app, sign up for separate loyalty programmes, or switch between multiple apps when travelling to get good deals for their travel spending. Vouchers can be claimed before a trip and are automatically applied when customers make QR payments at participating Alipay+ merchants.
OCBC customers can access more than 200 merchant deals in the initial phase across seven destinations - mainland China, Japan, South Korea, Hong Kong, Macau, Malaysia and Thailand. These include frequently visited establishments among travellers such as Shake Shack, Matsuya Food, The Shilla Duty-Free, 7-Eleven, and Kuala Lumpur’s Suria KLCC and TRX Mall.
The introduction of Alipay+ Travel Treat follows strong growth in overseas QR payments by OCBC customers. Through the OCBC app, customers can make payments directly from their Singapore bank accounts to merchants in more than 55 destinations globally.
In the first eight months of 2026, the number of customers using the OCBC app to scan and pay Alipay+ merchants overseas and the value of their transactions more than doubled compared with the same period in 2025. The growth was driven primarily by Singaporeans’ spending in popular travel destinations including mainland China, Japan and South Korea.
The Alipay+ Super App Platform - which underpins Alipay+ Travel Treat - also lays the foundation for future travel-related services to be embedded within the OCBC app. Such services could include ride-hailing and food delivery, allowing customers to access a broader range of travel essentials without leaving their banking app.
This is particularly relevant for travellers visiting mainland China, where integrated "super-app" experiences that combine payments with everyday lifestyle services have become commonplace. Over time, OCBC customers could rely on a single app not only for their banking and payments needs, but also for the best deals and rewards to elevate their travel experience and lifestyle.
Ms Regina Lim, Head of Group Card Payments and Personal Loans, OCBC, said: “Customers value convenience as much as savings when they travel. While rewards and discounts are widely available today, they are often spread across different apps and platforms.
By bringing Alipay+ Travel Treat into the OCBC app, we are making it easier for customers to discover and enjoy those benefits through an app they already use and trust, and offering them a more seamless and rewarding experience wherever they go. We are deepening our cross-border payments capabilities to provide customers with even more reasons to use the OCBC app beyond just payments.”
Mr Edward Yue, General Manager of Alipay+ Global Power Center, Ant International, said: “Customers increasingly expect their mobile apps to offer more than transactions, they want relevant experiences and greater value in their everyday lives. For banks, this creates an opportunity to rethink how they engage customers beyond payments.
Alipay+ helps banks tap into this opportunity by bringing new services, offers and experiences into their digital ecosystems. Our partnership with OCBC is a great example of how banks can create new digital touchpoints and extend the value of their mobile apps, while giving customers more reasons to engage with their bank beyond everyday transactions.”
