Supporting an Orderly and Just Transition in Asia
Our Guiding Principles
Transition for All
At OCBC, we believe in ‘Transition for All’ - ensuring that no one is left behind in the transition to a low-carbon economy.
Our position is anchored on four core principles that guide how we support the real economy across our markets:
- Inclusivity: supporting different markets, sectors, businesses and communities in their decarbonisation journeys.
- Orderly transition: managing risks and preventing sudden economic dislocations.
- Pragmatic ambition: aligning with net zero goals while recognising real economy constraints, national policies and differentiated pathways.
- Partnerships and engagement: collaborating across the ecosystem and maintaining active engagement with clients, governments, policy-makers and stakeholders.
Our Commitments
Our Commitment to Net-Zero
We have defined a transition plan anchored on ambitious, quantitative and science-based targets for achieving net-zero financed emissions by 2050. These targets cover six priority sectors - Power, Oil & Gas, Real Estate, Steel, Aviation and Shipping - which represent close to 40% of our corporate and commercial lending portfolio.
In the OCBC Next Frontier Strategy, the Net-Zero Shift is included as a strategic shift for OCBC where we will continue to support the transition to a low-carbon economy, while managing climate-related risks responsibly.
Our Commitment to Green and Transition Finance
Green and transition finance is a core pillar of how we support decarbonisation across our key markets.
In 2025, we extended more than 280 green, transition, social and sustainability linked loans and served as sustainability advisors in over 210 transactions. These efforts contributed to a $9 billion increase in our committed sustainable finance portfolio, bringing it to $80 billion across multiple markets and sectors including renewable energy, sustainable transportation and green real estate.
There is no one size fits all approach across the diverse markets in which we operate. Our financing solutions reflect local circumstances and national transition priorities, and are aligned with host-country regulations and our responsible financing framework and policies.
Supporting All Actors in the Transition, Including SMEs
SMEs are critical to Asia’s economies but often face constraints in funding and technical expertise. OCBC adopts a dedicated, practical and cost-effective approach to support them.
To date, we have provided sustainable and transition financing to over 5,000 SMEs, with financing commitments standing at close to $13 billion as of December 2025. We aim to support 12,000 SMES across our core markets with sustainable financing by 2028.
Our Commitment to Journeying with Our Customers
We believe that achieving net-zero ambitions requires long-term, forward-looking engagement with our customers that supports commercially viable and inclusive pathways.
We are committed to supporting and journeying with our customers, including large corporations and SMEs, through:
