OCBC signs MOU to participate in sustainable aviation fuel trial

  • 02 Feb 2026

Singapore, 2 February 2026 – OCBC has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with the Civil Aviation Authority of Singapore and the Singapore Sustainable Aviation Fuel Company Ltd (SAFCo) to launch Singapore’s first voluntary trial for the central procurement of sustainable aviation fuel (SAF). The trial will test end-to-end operational, commercial and accounting processes for an integrated SAF ecosystem, supporting the scale-up of its adoption and accelerating aviation decarbonisation.

This initiative builds on OCBC’s commitment to decarbonising the aviation sector, one of six priority sectors under its net-zero financed emissions target by 2050. OCBC will continue engaging clients on their transition to SAF, alongside fleet optimisation efforts.

In November 2025, OCBC convened an industry roundtable with SAF producers, airlines and policymakers to discuss scaling the adoption of sustainable fuel and Singapore’s role in advancing it. OCBC also participates in Green Fuel Forward, a World Economic Forum and GenZero initiative to boost SAF demand in Asia Pacific.

Ms Elaine Lam, Head of Global Corporate Banking, OCBC, said: “The trial demonstrates how Singapore can lead the region in advancing sustainable aviation fuel, combining the nation’s strengths as a global aviation hub and leading financial centre. As a key lever for aviation decarbonisation, we are committed to helping build a scalable SAF ecosystem – financing innovative solutions, supporting credible market mechanisms to boost demand and supply, and strengthening confidence across the value chain to drive investment.”
