OCBC SeniorCare community event draws 1,000 Seniors
The OCBC SeniorCare programme aims to enable seniors to age well through increasing their financial and digital banking literacy.
Singapore, 25 April 2026 – About 1,000 elderly members of the public attended a community event organised by OCBC at Toa Payoh West Community Club, aimed at increasing financial and digital banking literacy among seniors.
This was part of OCBC SeniorCare, a three‑year programme launched in March 2025 with over S$2 million committed to benefit more than 180,000 seniors aged 60 and above. The programme – which brings together public agencies and community partners to address seniors’ evolving needs as Singapore moves towards becoming a super‑aged society – is designed to equip seniors with practical knowledge and tools to support healthy ageing, financial confidence and digital inclusion.
At the event, seniors learned how to use the Scan and Pay function on the OCBC app to purchase discounted grocery items, such as rice, in Singapore dollars. They were also able to Scan and Pay for overseas snacks in a foreign currency. This hands-on experience simulated real-life overseas payment transactions and demonstrated how digital payments can be made when travelling.
Singapore TV personalities Chen Liping and Rayson Tan shared with the senior attendees how they bank digitally with the OCBC app.
The event also featured a CPF Board talk on ElderShield, CareShield Life and scam prevention, as well as a fireside chat with award-winning actors Chen Liping and Rayson Tan, who shared about their use of OCBC’s digital banking features.
Health and well‑being were also addressed through talks by a Eu Yan Sang physician on healthy aging and managing chronic pain using Traditional Chinese Medicine, and a Raffles Medical doctor who spoke about chronic pain and mobility issues among seniors. The programme reflects OCBC SeniorCare’s holistic approach of combining education, healthcare insights and everyday digital skills in a community setting.
Ms Susan Tan, Head of Group Segment, OCBC, said: “OCBC SeniorCare is about supporting seniors in a practical and holistic way, by bringing information, skills and partners together in the community. Events like this help seniors build confidence in managing their health, finances and digital banking needs as they age.”
