OCBC rolls out Hari Raya e‑packets on the OCBC app

  • 20 Mar 2026

Available until 20 April 2026, the move offers customers a convenient way to ‘gift’ Duit Raya digitally

Singapore, 20 March 2026 – OCBC has rolled out Hari Raya e-packets on the OCBC app for the first time. Customers can now send Duit Raya digitally to their loved ones, removing the need to prepare physical cash or make multiple ATM withdrawals ahead of Hari Raya visits. Duit Raya – literally ‘Raya money’ – is the tradition of gifting cash in green packets to loved ones during Hari Raya Aidilfitri.

OCBC’s PayNow and ATM transaction data from 2024 and 2025 suggests higher activity among customers in the weeks during and after Hari Raya Puasa. Customers made an average of 10 per cent more transactions during this period compared with the weeks prior and proceeding those two weeks, signalling a stronger demand for cash withdrawals and peer‑to‑peer transfers during the festive period.

The Hari Raya e-packets roll out follows the strong adoption of OCBC’s Lunar New Year e-Ang Baos, which have been launched since 2021, underscoring customers’ growing preference for digital festive gifting. Notably, the e-Ang Bao adoption among senior customers aged 64 and above increased 30 per cent this Lunar New Year compared to 2025. Among these seniors, one in five were generous with e-Ang Bao gifts of S$100.

“Our Hari Raya e‑packets give customers a convenient and instant alternative to gifting cash, while still preserving the tradition of giving green packets,” says Ng Lee Peng, OCBC’s Head of Digital Business Singapore. “The strong take‑up of e‑Ang Baos during the Lunar New Year gave us confidence to extend a similar digital experience to our customers who celebrate Hari Raya Puasa, so more customers can benefit from festive e-gifting. Over time, we aim to scale e‑gifting to even more festive celebrations in Singapore on our OCBC app.”

Customers can choose from three Hari Raya e‑packet designs, two of which are available exclusively on the OCBC app. One of the digital e-packets mirrors the design of OCBC’s 2026 physical green packets (which are available upon request at OCBC branches).

Steps to send Hari Raya e-packets using PayNow-linked mobile numbers:

  1. Log in to the OCBC app and tap on “Pay & Transfer”
  2. Tap on “Send Hari Raya packets via PayNow” and choose the recipient
  3. Enter the amount to send, select the e-packet design
  4. Review your transfer and slide to send your e-packet
  5. Tap on “Share” to send a special e-packet message
  6. And you’re done!
