At OCBC, your opportunity starts here.
Shifting gears, building bonds
When OCBC Cycle shifted to a virtual format, OCBC Group Audit didn’t let the change dampen our spirits. Instead, we turned it into an opportunity to come together, creating shared moments of connection and camaraderie.
Sure, it would have been easier to complete the challenge individually. But as the saying goes, “If you want to go far, go together.” The idea of a group ride quickly gained traction, energising many of us who signed up with the promise of mutual motivation and collective achievement.
With strong support from leadership and a few enthusiastic organisers, plans were set in motion. East Coast Park, with its scenic views and cyclist-friendly paths, became the perfect venue for our ride.
On a bright Sunday morning, over 20 of us, including family members, went to East Coast Park. The route took us along Tanah Merah Coast Road and the Coastal Park Connector, offering picturesque views and shaded paths.
During the group ride, roles were naturally taken up—some led the pace, others marked key turns, and many ensured no one was left behind. At every traffic light and junction, the group stayed together, looking out for one another.

More than just a ride
These rides reminded us that true enthusiasm and camaraderie can’t be cancelled. Even without an official on-site event, the team created something meaningful, strengthening bonds and building a sense of community.
Although we had to shift gears, the wheels kept going; and so did our team spirit.
As one of our leaders put it:
“The journey is better when we share it with others. Cycling together is more than just a physical activity; it’s an opportunity to forge deeper connections and build camaraderie that extends beyond our professional roles. As we navigated the trails and roads, we shared laughter and encouragement, and sometimes even a few challenges.
Whether you’re a seasoned cyclist or a novice, every ride is a chance to grow closer as a team and create a supportive community that thrives both inside and outside the office.”
