Giving back as a team

From structuring financing solutions for corporate clients to giving back to society, service is at the heart of Global Investment Banking (GIB). Since 2015, the division has adopted MINDSville@Napiri as their charity partner, with the objective to create positive and memorable experiences for the beneficiaries.

Over the years, the Global Investment Banking Taskforce has organised various educational, recreational and social activities, enjoyed by both beneficiaries and volunteers from the division.

View the photo diary below for some highlights from the past years!

August 2017

The division organised an enriching learning journey to the Science Centre and Omni Theatre for 29 beneficiaries from MINDS. After watching a movie screening of “Dinosaur at Dusk“ at the Omni Theatre, volunteers led the beneficiaries to explore the exhibitions at the Science Centre, which featured exhibits on climate change, earth and planets, and the ecosystem. Beneficiaries also had the opportunity to watch the fire tornado show.

October 2017

Mid-Autumn Festival is a time for family reunion and peace. This month, GIB volunteers made a visit to Napiri Centre to share the festivity of Mid-Autumn festival with the beneficiaries. Together, volunteers and beneficiaries handcrafted lanterns and had a mini lantern procession thereafter to showcase their Do-It-Yourself (DIY) lanterns. Mooncakes were another must-have during Mid-Autumn festival, and everyone gathered to share mooncakes for tea to end off the event. Sometimes, the simplest activities are the ones that touches the heart the most.

April 2018

Apart from excursions and handicrafts, sports activities, particularly bowling, are fan favourites amongst the beneficiaries. GIB organised a bowling day for 25 beneficiaries – a five-hour affair including two rounds of games. To encourage closer bonding and team spirit, GIB volunteers and beneficiaries grouped themselves into five teams for a friendly competition. It was a heart-warming experience for both volunteers and beneficiaries as everyone cheered each other on and celebrated the victories of a strike. The biggest winners were the ones who had most fun!

September 2018

Time for the outdoors! The team organised a HiPPO bus tour around the city, followed by a visit to Gardens by the Bay, for 45 beneficiaries. It was an exhilarating experience for the beneficiaries as they took in the sights of Singapore city onboard the open roof double-decker HiPPO bus – a first-ime experience for many of them. Hopping off the bus, volunteers and beneficiaries had a great time admiring the beauty and variety of nature at the two domes at Gardens by the Bay.

June 2019

GIB volunteers and beneficiaries hit the movie theatre for a screening of “The Secret Life of Pets 2“. The laughter and warmth shared that morning carried on after lunch as everyone proceeded to Bowen Secondary School hall for a fun time of interactive activities. It was a day well spent indoors with smiles aplenty and memories forged.

“Volunteering is a two-way street, and one where the givers learn the most. As we seek to further strengthen our partnership with MINDS, we look forward to joining hands with each and every member of Global Investment Banking in making a difference to the world we live in,“ said Gan Kok Kim, Head of Global Investment Banking.
