December Rains returns on stage once more after its roaring success in 2010 as the highest grossing local mandarin theatre production ever! A joint collaboration by Singapore's most prolific songwriter Liang Wen Fook, music composer Jimmy Ye and Toy Factory's artistic director Goh Boon Teck, this is a story weaved by tenderness and hope.
Amidst the tumultuous 50s was a pair of young lovers whose innocent relationship was convoluted by social unrest, a marriage out of convenience, and parental expectations. The downpour of pain drenched the lonesome messenger who lingered, holding on to his unrequited love as he, too, was caught in the whirlpool. As the rain season continued decades later, past grievances and mistakes surfaced, forcing decisions to be made. One cannot help but wonder if it is a sweet drizzle or a dire storm waiting.
