Mighty Savers™ Short Story by

Hey children, it’s Christmas Eve. exclaimed Father Sam. Simon and Sally were watching television program in the living room. Don’t you want to play with snow asked Father Sam. Yes. said Simon.

When they walked out of the house, the whole city was covered with snow. The children were having so much fun playing with snow. After playing with snow, the family helped to decorate the Christmas tree. They were in high spirits while decorating the Christmas tree. After the decoration, Mother Sandra started to prepare for dinner. Simon and Sally helped Mother Sandra to prepare roast turkey.

Over the Christmas Eve dinner, Father Simon told them a story. There was a boy named James, who likes an expensive toy but he couldn’t afford to buy it as his family was very poor. So he decided to save 10 cents every day. He thought that if he would slowly save up 10 cents every day, he could afford to buy the toy one day. Day after day, he finally had saved enough money to buy the toy he likes and decided to go to the store to buy it the next day. Suddenly, his father had an accident and he needed to stay in the hospital for a period of time. James was shocked to know that the medical fee for his father was such a big sum of money and they couldn’t afford it. James decided to use the money he had saved to pay for his father’s medical fee. His father was so grateful and delighted that James was willing to sacrifice his money he had saved for the toy.

So we must always remember that we need to save up for raining days. exclaimed Father Sam. I will save 20 cents every day just like James. shouted Simon. Me too! exclaimed Sally. Mum, would you bank my savings into the OCBC Mighty Savers account said Sally. Definitely! replied Mother Sandra.
